Amy Vail has been teaching literature in the Humanities program since 2000. Special areas of interest include the Romantic poets, Elizabethan drama, and African literature. Ms. Vail has a BA in English in Writing from Northwestern University and a Master's Degree in literature from Eastern Michigan University. She is also a 1989 Pioneer Humanities grad! While proctoring the ACT, Ms. Vail likes to memorize Shakespeare monologues.

Joan Bruggers has a B.A. in history from Carleton College and an M.A. in history from the University of Michigan. She has been with the program since 1998. Ms. Bruggers grew up in Japan and has done everything from helping to run a youth newspaper in Chicago to working at a pickle factory. While proctoring the ACT, Ms. Bruggers likes to plan her garden in her head. She wishes the results were a little more like Monet's (at left).

Jonathan Glawe (from Waterloo,Iowa) is currently the Director of Orchestras at GRAMMY award-winning Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas and a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Oregon. Prior to his time in Oregon, Glawe taught in the Darien Publics Schools in Darien, Connecticut. Glawe has studied conducting with the late Richard Kapp, Robert Ponto and Wayne Bennett.
